- 2 cans baked beans, I use Heinz or Bushes tomato base or maple syrup
- 5 strips of bacon, diced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 sweet onion, diced If you don't have a sweet onion on hand, use yellow
- ½ cup unsulphered molasses
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp liquid smoke
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tsp prepared yellow mustard
Preheat oven to 325℉
Pour the baked beans into a large oven-safe baking dish
In a medium pan, fry diced bacon, onion, and garlic. Cook until bacon is crisp and onion is tender. Remove from heat and add the bacon, onion and garlic mixture to the baked beans. Do not drain the bacon
Add molasses, ketchup, brown sugar, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and yellow mustard. Whisk well. Pour into oval dish with beans and bacon mixture. Stir to combine.
Bake uncovered for 45 minutes, or until the beans are hot, bubbly and slightly thickened.
